Dissolution process:

1. Basic formula (0.5% addition)

Ingredients Content

Carbopol 940 0.5%

Deionized water to 100%

Neutralizer (TEA) q.s. (adjust pH to 6.0-7.0)

2. Preparation steps

1 Pre-dispersion:

Under stirring (600-800rpm), slowly sprinkle Carbopol 940 into deionized water

Continue stirring for 30-45 minutes until completely dispersed

2 Neutralization and thickening:

Slowly add neutralizer (such as 10% TEA aqueous solution)

Adjust pH to 6.0-7.0 (viscosity will rise rapidly)

3 Post-treatment:

Add other active ingredients (temperature <40℃)

Standing for defoaming or vacuum degassing

Q1: Why does my Carbopol 940 gel have particles?

A: Possible reasons: 1) Insufficient dispersion - increase stirring time; 2) Powdering too quickly - be sure to add slowly
Q2: Can it be used in formulations containing electrolytes?

A: Not recommended, electrolytes will significantly reduce viscosity. Carbopol 676 is recommended for high-salt formulations.
Q3: What viscosity can be achieved with a 0.5% addition?

A: Usually in the range of 30,000-50,000cP (20rpm), depending on the degree of neutralization and formulation system.
